Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
What is permanent makeup (PMU)?
Permanent makeup is a cosmetic tattooing technique that enhances natural features by implanting pigment into the skin. Common procedures include brows, eyeliner, and lip blushing.
How long does permanent makeup last?
PMU typically lasts between 1-5 years, depending on factors like skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, and aftercare. Touch-ups are recommended to maintain the color and shape.
Is permanent makeup painful?
Most clients experience minimal discomfort. A topical numbing agent is applied during the procedure to maximize comfort. Sensitivity varies from person to person.
How long does the healing process take?
Initial healing takes about 7-10 days, during which you may experience flaking and mild scabbing. However, full healing and color stabilization take about 4-6 weeks.
Brows
What’s the difference between microblading, powder brows, and nano brows?
Microblading: Creates hair-like strokes for a natural look, best for normal to dry skin.
Powder Brows: Uses a soft shading technique for a filled-in makeup look, suitable for all skin types.
Nano Brows: A more advanced technique that mimics natural hair strokes with a machine, offering better retention than microblading and working well for all skin types.
How do I choose the right brow technique for me?
Time is built in during your appointment to include a consultation; we’ll assess your skin type and desired look to determine the best option for you.
Will my brows look too dark after the procedure?
Yes, immediately after the procedure, your brows will appear darker and bolder. This is normal and will soften by about 30-50% as they heal.
Can I get permanent makeup if I have Botox?
Yes, but timing is important. If you’ve recently had Botox, it’s best to wait at least 2-4 weeks before getting permanent makeup to ensure your facial muscles have fully settled.
Eyeliner
Can I wear mascara or lash extensions before my eyeliner procedure?
Lash extensions must be removed at least 3 days before your appointment. Avoid wearing mascara on the day of the procedure.
How long should I wait before wearing makeup again?
Avoid eye makeup for at least 5 days to prevent infection and irritation. Use a new mascara once healed.
Lip Blush
Can I get lip blush if I have a history of cold sores?
If you have a history of cold sores, you must take an antiviral medication (such as Valtrex) before your appointment to prevent an outbreak.
Will my lips look too bright after the procedure?
Yes, immediately after the procedure, the color will appear more intense. It will soften by 30-50% as it heals.
Healing & Aftercare
What should I expect during the healing process?
Your PMU will go through phases of darkening, scabbing, lightening, and final color settling over 4-6 weeks. Following aftercare instructions is crucial for the best results.
When should I book a touch-up?
A touch-up is recommended 6-8 weeks after your initial session to perfect the results. Annual touch-ups help maintain color and shape.

What’s the difference between scar camo and inkless revision?
Scar camouflage uses pigments matched to your skin tone to blend hypopigmented scars (lighter than your surrounding skin tone). If your scars are hypopigmented (darker than your surrounding skin tone) then inkless revision can be used to smooth texture, reduce redness, and improve tone.
How many sessions will I need?
Every scar is unique. Some clients see improvement after one session, while others may benefit from multiple treatments for optimal results.
Will my scar completely disappear?
There is no guarantee, however these techniques significantly improve the appearance of scars and help them blend more naturally with your surrounding skin.
